Interocept
A mobile heartbeat-discrimination task — the classic interoception paradigm, rebuilt as an iOS experience.
What it is
Interoception — your sense of your own internal state — is measured in the lab with a heartbeat-discrimination task: tones are played either in time with your pulse or slightly delayed, and you judge which. People vary enormously in how well they can tell. Interocept is that paradigm rebuilt as a phone app, the bridge between the neuroscience I was studying and something you could actually hold.
Status
An early Expo prototype — navigation, audio scaffolding, the task loop. It sits at the seam between the wet-lab work (snRNA-seq in the Reiner Lab) and the software, which is exactly why it's here in the timeline.
